Just as we hit the middle of Advent, something special occurs starting on December 17 and goes for the next seven days. The O Antiphons! I have created 7 shareable images, one to share for each O Antiphon.
Below is a little background on this tradition: The O Antiphons refer to the seven antiphons that are prayed immediately before the Magnificat during Vespers of the Liturgy of the Hours (or the Divine Office). Each antiphon begins with the exclamation “O”, thus earning their popular name of the “O Antiphons.” Originally written in Latin around the seventh or eighth centuries, these special antiphons are verses extracted from the Old Testament prophet Isaiah that are titles for the Messiah. These seven names or titles are: Dec. 17 - O’ Sapientia (meaning O Wisdom), from Isaiah 11:2-3. Dec. 18 - O’ Adonai (O Leader/Ruler), Isaiah 11:4-5 and 33:22. Dec. 19 - O’ Radix (O Root of Jesse), Isaiah 11:1. Dec. 20 - O’ Clavis (O Key of David), Isaiah 22:22. Dec. 21 - O’ Oriens (O Radiant Dawn), Isaiah 9:1. Dec. 22- O’ Rex Gentium (O King of the Nations), Isaiah 2:4. Dec. 23- - O’ Emmanuel (O God with Us), Isaiah 7:14.

Because of my mixup on the second Sunday of Advent - you will get double your pleasure for this week. There are two versions of each image (a cover and matching timeline image) for using the focus of the week as "faith" or "peace."
My new Christmas covers are just about ready and will be posted very soon!
Joy, Joy, Joy! Gaudete Sunday is here!

(See 2nd option at bottome of post)
OOPS!
I made a bit of an error (and no one said anything). In keeping with my past order of what each week of Advent represents, I mistakenly put "Peace" for the 2nd week, when in the past I have used "Faith." I have fixed this and will now do two versions for weeks 2 and 4, so now you may have your choice.
A new Facebook Cover and matching sharable image for the first Sunday of Advent Cycle A.
Addendum:
A little bit late I know - but I have added an additional design for the first week of Advent!
Here are the last two designs in the Advent 2015 series (Cycle C readings). I am posting them a few days early because I am very excited to be posting my new Christmas 2015 designs in just a day or two!
May this fourth and final Sunday of Advent find your hearts ready and prepared for His coming! Cyndi
It's time to bring out the covers and images for the third Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday. The name "Gaudete" is taken from Philippians 4:4: "Gaudete in Domino semper" ("Rejoice in the Lord always").
We have now passed the the midway point in this season of Advent waiting for the Saviors birth. This week the color of the season changes to rose and we "blush" with joy in anticpation of His arrival! Blessed Advent! |
